Lingleville ISD Parents, Staff and Community,

It has been brought to my attention that two students have tested positive for COVID-19: a Lingleville Elementary student that last had contact on campus with students and staff on Monday, December 7, 2020 and a secondary student had contact on campus with students and staff on Monday, December 7, 2020. Eight staff members have been exposed outside the normal school day to an individual that tested positive. None of the students have returned to district property since testing positive. Staff members were notified to quarantine on December 8,2020.

Case investigations have been completed and anyone determined to have been in close contact has been contacted.

For precautionary reasons, and in accordance with state and national guidance, all persons should monitor their health for signs of symptoms, follow the CDC guidelines for people who have had or may have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and contact their primary care physician if they develop symptoms. The definition of close contact is evolving and individual scenarios should be determined by an appropriate public health agency. Currently, in general, close contact is defined as: a. being directly exposed to infectious secretions (e.g., being coughed on); or b. being within 6 feet for a total of approximately 15 minutes throughout the course of a day; however, additional factors like case/contact masking (i.e., both the infectious individual and the potential close contact have been consistently and properly masked), ventilation, presence of dividers, and case symptomology may affect this determination. Either (a) or (b) defines close contact if it occurred during the infectious period of the case, defined as two days prior to symptom onset to 10 days after symptom onset. In the case of asymptomatic individuals who are test-confirmed with COVID-19, the infectious period is defined as two days prior to the confirming lab test and continuing for 10 days following the confirming lab test.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed. If you have any questions, you may contact me by phone, 254-968-2596, office phone, or by email, chaley@lingleville.us. Thank you.
